I don't think I have ever played a Zelda game I didn't like. The really old ones might be bad.

Zelda 1 is only hard when you get to the last level and every room has something like 20 Blue Wizrobes running around.

Zelda 2 is so shitty it's funny, and is hard more because it's made badly.

Link's Awakening is the best Zelda, followed closely by Windwaker.

i don't think i would say jedi ruined it. of course, the game was set at a time after nearly all jedi were killed, but there were still a few left in hiding. if SOE was creative enough (lol yeah right) to come up with a working system for keeping jedi extremely rare and forcing them to stay in hiding, they could have saved the game. making the path to jedi a grind-fest was a bad idea. they should have came up with some other system. i've always thought it would be cool to have something like... either PvP or PvE tasks that would require the organization of huge amounts of players, on the level of guilds. and in the end the head of the guild would attain force-sensitive status. in the RP sense, jedi are obviously leaders so this would fit well. it would leave the possibility open to any player, yet it is something that not everybody would be capable of. i could foresee problems with this idea so it could use some refinement, but you know. i wish i could just make my own fucking MMO.

and then permadeath was a great idea for so many reasons, i wish they didnt get rid of that. it balanced the jedi's obvious power over other classes and thinned out jedi numbers by removing the weak or stupid ones. also, it forced jedi to remain out of sight except for circumstances that were worth the risk (an important battle, for example) just like in the movies. at this time in the star wars storyline all jedi were doing what yoda or obi-wan were doing. they were hanging out in some deserted corner of the galaxy to avoid the imperials, and thats what you should have done as a player jedi. with the power comes the risk. fucking up the story line by making everyone a jedi was what ruined the game. they could have done better than that.

this game was unique and interesting in its early days, but the devs shunned the community and ran it down a shithole. its a shame. hopefully some other game company can recognize where SOE went wrong and make a game thats worth $15 a month. i really hope TOR has some fresh ideas.

that sounds great for when you're a leader of a guild, but for everyone it would suck ass.
the game would be ripe with 1-man guilds. annoying kids demanding to get special treatment. existing guilds will crumble appart because of internal conflicts between the creators and co-creators.
it's giving power to those already in power. if you want a game that would breed corrupt nerds and geeks, this would be the way to go.

Rise of Nations is worth trying. It's a good game, and is relatively simple. Age of Empires may also work for you.

If you're up for a bit of a learning curve, try the civilization games, they're excellent.

Civilization is the bomb, it's like the middle ground between basic and nerd for Strategy game, but watch out the fucking cheater AI might make you toss the computer out a window.

other than starcraft and warcraft 3, red alert 3 was the only rts i ever got into mainly because I was hella good at it. its alot less mature than c&c3. kind of geared towards younger children imo but every unit has a secondary ability so theres lots of interesting strategies and counters you can come up with. if you want to end battles in 10 minutes play as the rising sun. they have the fastest units

I'll second the Age of Empires, 2 is the best, but 3 isn't half bad either. Never played the first.

And whoever said Starcraft was dumbed down, I partially agree.
It's kind of like chess in the sense that, it's really easy to learn how all of the units work and maneuver, but the difficulty and strategy you need is entirely dependent on the skill of your opponent.
I guess you could say that about every game though...

Ive found this to be extremely effective in red alert 3 especially playing as the rising sun. burst drones are hard to spot if you put them over high ground. Not to mention you can build them almost immediatly. Most of the rising suns units are quick enough to respond to any expansions your enemy trys to throw down if you see them leaving his base.

All that happens is that the OS adds bits of info to a pre-specified sector telling the computer that, "There's stuff here but it's perfectly fine to write over it."

Work your way back up though.
It's sometimes great to get a fresh start.
