I don't get why everyone's taking this out on Infinity Ward. Sure, they're corporate scum, but can you blame them if so many dipshits are willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on this piece of crap? I would do the same in their position. Remember this and remember it well, they are NOT gamers, they are in business to make money.
>>88977Are you saying that if someone makes really shitty paintings and then people buy the paintings, its not the painters fault? They are not in the business to make a good painting, they are in the business to make money. I want to enjoy something I buy, IW has been pretty huge dicks about this whole thing. What's the reason we can't have our dedicated servers?
>>89076You shouldn't be such a fucking retard and buy an identical game then should you. For fucks sake take some responsibility.
So, a couple days ago, Gearbox released an update for Borderlands that fixed some bugs, and now it's required in order to play multiplayer.I pirated it no problem, but now the update won't install. It tells me that "this package will only update the retail DVD version of Borderlands. If you purchased your copy from an online distribution service that allowed you to download the product, then you must receive updates from them."Since I downloaded an ISO, I don't see how that applies to me, yet the setup window closes after that. Has anyone else had this problem?Pic unrelated

Planning on doing a Zelda run through. Starting from the SNES game and forward, What games on all consoles/handhelds are available in Zelda and which ones are actually worth my time to play. Not hardcore enough for the NES or CDI games.
Legend of ZeldaLegend of Zelda 2: Links AdventureLink to the Past - Worth is, especially if you still have an SNESLink's Awakwning - Worth itOcarina of Time - Must PlayMajora's Mask - Pretty good, but it varies from person to personOracle of Ages / Seasons - Both good, unless you wanna get 100% just play on of em.4 Swords and 4 Swords Adventure - Fun if you have the people to play withWind Waker - Must PlayTwilight Princess - Must PlayPhantom Hourglass - Is alright
Minish Cap for GBA hasn't been mentioned, I had fun with that, some really unique gameplay quirks involving shrinking/growing.
Top 5, must play:Legend of Zelda (don't be a pussy, it's fun)A Link to the PastOcarina of TimeMajora's MaskWindwaker (optional, I guess, still damn good) Pretty fun, but gameboy games, so fuckit:Link's AwakeningOracle of Seasons/AgesShit:Twilight PrincessPhantom HourglassMeh:Minish Cap4 SwordsLegend of Zelda 2

I don't think I have ever played a Zelda game I didn't like. The really old ones might be bad.
Zelda 1 is only hard when you get to the last level and every room has something like 20 Blue Wizrobes running around.Zelda 2 is so shitty it's funny, and is hard more because it's made badly.Link's Awakening is the best Zelda, followed closely by Windwaker.

I saw a good sale on steam offering the MMO Star Wars: Galaxies and a free trial month for 10 dollars, so I decided to give it a try. Anyone still play this, or possibly just played it before and quit? Haven't really read up on it much, but it seemed with 10 dollars to give it a shot. http://store.steampowered.com/app/24170/If anyone has played it, some tips as to what kind of class (or whatever they call them) or something along those lines would be really appreciated.

>>89006i don't think i would say jedi ruined it. of course, the game was set at a time after nearly all jedi were killed, but there were still a few left in hiding. if SOE was creative enough (lol yeah right) to come up with a working system for keeping jedi extremely rare and forcing them to stay in hiding, they could have saved the game. making the path to jedi a grind-fest was a bad idea. they should have came up with some other system. i've always thought it would be cool to have something like... either PvP or PvE tasks that would require the organization of huge amounts of players, on the level of guilds. and in the end the head of the guild would attain force-sensitive status. in the RP sense, jedi are obviously leaders so this would fit well. it would leave the possibility open to any player, yet it is something that not everybody would be capable of. i could foresee problems with this idea so it could use some refinement, but you know. i wish i could just make my own fucking MMO.and then permadeath was a great idea for so many reasons, i wish they didnt get rid of that. it balanced the jedi's obvious power over other classes and thinned out jedi numbers by removing the weak or stupid ones. also, it forced jedi to remain out of sight except for circumstances that were worth the risk (an important battle, for example) just like in the movies. at this time in the star wars storyline all jedi were doing what yoda or obi-wan were doing. they were hanging out in some deserted corner of the galaxy to avoid the imperials, and thats what you should have done as a player jedi. with the power comes the risk. fucking up the story line by making everyone a jedi was what ruined the game. they could have done better than that.this game was unique and interesting in its early days, but the devs shunned the community and ran it down a shithole. its a shame. hopefully some other game company can recognize where SOE went wrong and make a game thats worth $15 a month. i really hope TOR has some fresh ideas.

>>89062that sounds great for when you're a leader of a guild, but for everyone it would suck ass.the game would be ripe with 1-man guilds. annoying kids demanding to get special treatment. existing guilds will crumble appart because of internal conflicts between the creators and co-creators.it's giving power to those already in power. if you want a game that would breed corrupt nerds and geeks, this would be the way to go.

I only ever play video games to kill time, and I think out of all the video games I've ever played, Command & Conquer Generals is the one I've wasted the most time on (I've prolly spent more time on Tekken but my PS3 was stolen in April and I have no money to replace it and buy Tekken 6 right now). The thing is, I know there are much better RTS's out there, and I'm wondering if there's one you guys could recommend that'll better satisfy my preferences. What I like about this game:*Most of all is the setting, I can't get into fantasy a la Warcraft, not interested in a sci-fi RTS, even Command & Conquer 3 was a little too futuristic for me.*I like how dumbed down it is, although the C&C games move too fast for me (especially C&C3)*I like something that, in theory, I could finish a battle in 10 minutes (even though I drag on most battles for an hour at a time because I suck); a high school buddy of mine played Rise of Nations and it looked fun but it also looked like matches would drag on for an eternity.Help? I own only Generals and C&C3 in the way of RTS's, tried Warcraft briefly and didn't like it, never took interest in Starcraft, I'd like to try Rise of Nations but I'm worried I'm too stupid for it.

other than starcraft and warcraft 3, red alert 3 was the only rts i ever got into mainly because I was hella good at it. its alot less mature than c&c3. kind of geared towards younger children imo but every unit has a secondary ability so theres lots of interesting strategies and counters you can come up with. if you want to end battles in 10 minutes play as the rising sun. they have the fastest units
I'll second the Age of Empires, 2 is the best, but 3 isn't half bad either. Never played the first. And whoever said Starcraft was dumbed down, I partially agree. It's kind of like chess in the sense that, it's really easy to learn how all of the units work and maneuver, but the difficulty and strategy you need is entirely dependent on the skill of your opponent.I guess you could say that about every game though...>>85374And yes. Rubberband AI piss me off, but I still enjoy playing them because it's still a challenge.

Sorry guys, been so busy playing Borderlands that I forgot I took the server down because the map was deleted. AGAIN. It's back up now, with a new set of caves. This will happen every time the server resets, unless I make backups.
however... it's 12 o clock, so the server will now be down.See you in the morning.

Why wouldn't you use something to make backups?
The server is now running cMss, which does backups. HOORAY!

>>89023Ive found this to be extremely effective in red alert 3 especially playing as the rising sun. burst drones are hard to spot if you put them over high ground. Not to mention you can build them almost immediatly. Most of the rising suns units are quick enough to respond to any expansions your enemy trys to throw down if you see them leaving his base.

Private trackers are awful, do they not realize they will eventually grow stagnant and receive no new uploads? It's impossible to maintain a ratio when there's no one to upload to.

I'm not sure how to go about it, but when a file gets deleted the data stays on the disk. All that happens is that the OS adds bits of info to a pre-specified sector telling the computer that, "There's stuff here but it's perfectly fine to write over it."Work your way back up though. It's sometimes great to get a fresh start.
