LSD (imo) stimulates the mirror neuron system. This system is implicated in empathy, the ability to recognise emotion in others and replicate their behaviour etc. Most people who have tried LSD can relate to this.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Plato tripped, it would fit his (supposedly) initiatic inclinations. While I don't think there is an attested culture of psychedelics and such in Ancient Greece, except for especulations about amanitas and fumes in the oracles, we do have the strange tradition of ἐγκοίμησις (enkoimesis - latin incubatio), which survives (directly, albeit in modified form) in the Russian Orthodox Church, where it's known as hesychasm. Some greek monasteries still practice ἐγκοίμησις proper, but I'm not sure they reach the supposed hallucinatory states it yelded, which were probably something like that trick you can do with white noise, red lights and the ping-pong balls on your eyes.

Ask the dealer what it actually is.
If they don't know or are not willing to tell then do not buy it.

Make sure you fully research what the actual drug is before doing it.

Amanita muscaria mushrooms are poisonous so be careful. I really suggest Psilocybin mushrooms they are very safe and are generality much better to take.

I actually would consider a rave a pretty secure setting. If I start tripping too hard, raver savers to the rescue. If I start coming down and not feeling too good, I'm at a rave so it can't get too bad.

I live in Philly, and the last time I tripped, I was with a friend, and me and her were both tripping on LSD, I took 6 hits and she took 2. We sat at Love Park for a long ass time, smoking weed, listening to music and snorting oxymorphone. It was also raining but we were under something that kept us and the powder dry.
