I disagree. Obviously there's always going to be a story element to the way it's promoted, but I have absolutely no problem watching a fight between two skilled guys whose names I don't know. I watch because it's exciting. There's always going to be bad apples that lay and pray or refuse to engage, but as a whole I really do think the sport is pretty exciting.

You'd like to think that, but a real gym would have a metal fire door. They get away with not using a fire door because it's a TV set, which the Nevada fire code calls "temporary structural improvments" and those don't require fire doors. If it were actually a training facility they wouldn't get away with building it so cheaply.

Depends on the instructors. Go visit each one and make your decision from that. Don't take a class though, ask if you can sit in on a class and watch, you'll get a better impression of the school that way. If they say you can't watch a class, that's a big red flag.
