Not for me, I'm sad to say: if I resort to the hair of the dog in even only slightly severe hangover, I just get hungover and drunk at the same time, which helps a little but not all that much, and I tend to get a hangover from hell afterwards. Now, say I spend the better part of the day puking my guts out from a hangover, but once the hangover's finally gone, I'm good to go again. Just how my physiology works in relation to alcohol, I guess; might even be a good thing as it seems to make becoming an alcoholic at least a bit harder than if I could just pick up from where I left off the day after.

depends what kind of "lab ethanol" OP is talking about and where he got it.

Ethanol in bio labs is sometimes denatured, sometimes not, depending on its intended use in the laboratory. The label will tell you what's in it. If it says that the bottle contains methanol, pyridine, acetone, formaline, or anything other than ethanol, don't drink it.

If you bought it online rather than swiping it from a medical or research facility, don't drink it. The great majority of online chem suppliers only sell denatured ethanol to the general public, mostly because non-denatured ethanol is very, very heavily taxed.
