So /crops/, growing noob (more like uber-noob) here. I finally got fed up with paying a crapload of money for over(priced) weed, so I got some dank and got seeds from it (not the best option, I know, but kinda hard to get any named/guaranteed female seeds here, this country is VERY weed-unfriendly).

So I picked a few seeds from the dank, threw them into a warm glass cup (the most practical method I have at hand ATM) and waiting for the taproots to come out.

I live on my own, pretty small apartment, my mom visits once a week but shouldn't give me any crap, AND have a perfectly good unused empty closet.

a) someone else can help you with this one
b) The bulb in your picture is called a CFL or Compact Florescent Lamp. Those bulbs are fine as long as you use enough(you're going to want 2-4 bulbs per plant) and they are the right spectrum (use either Daylight or Soft White(Daylight is better for vegging and Soft White is better for flowering)
c) Imagine the dankest, most reeking bag you have ever had. It will smell more than that

Um, that's not my pic, just some random one I picked up off Google. Probably should've mentioned that. :/ How much money for a nice light enough to "power" 1-2 plants? I don't need any A-grade MJ, nor do I need obscene quantities of it, I just want a little relief on my and my g/f's budget. Basically, I'll settle for low regs/mids, as long it's smokeable and gets you high.

>> No.40583 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

>>40582
Also, is it possible to get the plants straight into flowering stage, skipping the vegetative one? Like I said, I'm not looking for a rich, high yield or best quality, I just want something to smoke while I'm dry.

Let's discuss alternative grow-closets for a moment. My problems are that closets are expensive like hell, and that I don't have access to a car to transport it in. Are there any alternatives to closets that are cheaper and light enough for me to carry home, but still stealthy? I've been thinking about building one myself, but I have never built anything from scratch, and I don't think an ugly and poorly made closet is very stealthy. I want a "closet" that's 180-200cm tall, and about 60-70cm wide and deep. Any tips and ideas? I live in Sweden in case that matters.

Being Swedish I would have thought you'd be familiar with IKEA. Buy a cheap flat pack unit.

>> No.40572 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

>>40564
I've already checked IKEA, and the cheapest closet I could find was a PAX (which was a bit too small) for 675kr (95 dollars), and I really don't want the damn closet to be one of the most expensive parts of my grow set-up. I honestly though IKEA was cheaper than that.

Well if you're looking for a small operation and just grow 1-2 plants at a time and grow in garbage cans. They're simple to modify for growing.

>> No.40577 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

>>40572
If you think that's expensive, you should see prebuilt special purpose growing enclosures. The prices on those are ridiculous.

If you really want a growing closet for real cheap, either hit up your local classifieds for a used cabinet or build one yourself. Look up the free section of craigslist or browse around freecycle.

Well the only option is to poke a couple holes in the ground where it stays pretty sunny and just hope nothing/no one gets to them.

If you want to be serious, get a job and move out of moms home. I don't want to seem mean but it's true.

They are DEFINITELY stretched. I'm 4 days into growing about 13 plants. Although 9 of 13 have sprouted as of yet, they aren't even half the length of a lot of your plants. I'd suggest 2 - 4 inches away from your light. But I have a UV bulb. So. IDK.

400W is definitely a waste of money (energy...) if you just have a few seedlings like that. most growers use floros for clones or seedlings and put them under HPS or MH once they're big enough to actually make use of the lumens you throw at them...

Depends what you mean by easy. Growing cannabis is as easy or as hard as you make it to be. Enjoy the ride and learn from experience.

With my logic, I would think microgrowing is harder than growing in any old large closet space due to size limitations. If you can manage to fit one good plant in the case, the basic fundamentals are the same. You are growing the same plant after all :D

hey /crops/ i'm currently growing a few Big Bang plants from Greenhouse's feminised seeds (http://greenhouseseeds.nl/shop/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=30).

the plants are obviously strong indicas (you can see a video on the linked page, youtube has a few more; search for big bang)

my plants are now about 2.5 weeks in veg, and they look great! the only thing that bothers me is the size... i planned on going ScroG since i have limited space in my closet... as you can see, they are freaking bushes! when do you think i should start training them (tying down branches etc...)?

thanks, that's a good idea! i think i'll lower them a few inches. my temperatures are already pretty high at 86°F (30°C) sine i use a smaller fan for vegging...

SoG isn't really an option; i have too few plants currently. if i took clones from them i'd have to wait at least a month until they're big enough for flowering...

So I am setting up my grow tent. it is 4'x2'x5' and I will have a 1000w HID in there with a switchable remote ballast. To keep the light cool I have a 165 CFM Hydrofarm fan that will pull air in from a cool basement (never gets above 62F) blow it through 4" ducting to the hood (glassed in) and then it will be exhausted into the room several feet away.

Now, this will handle the heat, obviously, but should I get another fan to turn over the air in the tent itself? I am wondering if there will be enough air "leaking" into the hood (it is just a standard rhombus shaped hood with 4" duct holes on each side and glass on the bottom), to keep the air turned over, or do I need another fan setup?

Bump.

>> No.40463 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

You need air circulation for the plants to rid their waste. Just enough so the leaves are slowly wiggling in the breeze.

If you plan on using CO2 you can just put a fan in there to move it around. Seriously think about this since your already set-up with completely enclosed light cooling.

If no C02 system you'll need to get some sort of fresh air in there. Hood leakage isn't enough.

I'm not gonna do CO2, so yeah, I will need more air.

OK, so what is the best way to do this? The blower I have now is pretty overpowered to just blow across the plants. So my top blower is powering out the extra heat, and I will need some fans lower down to move fresh air in and old air out. BOTH air flows will need to be filtered.

So is there a way to send this all to one filter? I am assuming that my lower fans that wash over the plants can be done with smaller fans. But can I plumb that output into the duct carrying the heat from the light so that they can both vent into a filter?

My mom found my pre-outdoor veg project many years ago(one of the fans broke down and started making more noise than usual) and since then it's impossible to get along decently. She also flipped out a lot more than i expected from such an event and decided to be biased and only trust anti-weed information sources.

And yes, when you grow it will smell of ungodly proportions, which will probably rub your christian parents in the wrong way.

It wasn't all misery that my mom found my grow op though as two months later customs officiers raided my room after they intercepted a letter from amsterdam filled with pot adressed to me. As mom already knew i was smoking she took their visit with ease.

Your chances of getting a female with femm'd beans is still only 50%, except instead of having a male, you have HERMIES. Femm'd beans are bred by causing female plants to produce male flowers (forced aesexual reproduction). Nature did not intend to make beans this way, and the offspring show's nature's anger at this lame practice. Pop regular beans, kill the males, or keep them to make MORE SEED so you don't have to keep shelling out 100+ bucks for primo seeds.

Femenized beans are bullshit.

OP u mad.

i was mad too when 7 of my feminized PP seeds turned hermie. but then i vegged the remaining ones under blue light and they turned out female, and flowered out just fine.

breeders have shown that environments play a role in the gender selection of a seed.

i dont think any ones used light stress methods anymore,
look people buy fem seeds because it takes the stress out of finding males(lazy imo), the bullshit then becomes looked for hermies and eventually spending your time pulling of balls sacs.

> 50% female 50% hermie

Perhaps, but the hermie gene is obviously recessive. Otherwise they'd all be like that by now.

If a hermie female pollinates another female that does not have the hermie gene, the end product will still only has one recessive hermie gene at most. While this would make them more prone to going hermie under bad conditions, the chances of them being naturally hermie are still no worse than a regular plant.

I've grown DJ Short Blueberry, Cocoa Kush, Grape Krush and F13, as well as Nirvana Misty, Papaya and White Rhino. So far, no hermies, only true blue males and females. F2's and crosses abound, buying real beans is the bee's neez.

I come to you today with, for me and my friend, a amazing story. We live i an cold, small ass town, way up north in sweden. 1 and a half month ago, i bought some weed. In said weed, there was a couple of seeds. So i took this as a sign from the universe to start growing, so i got all the supplies that i needed, put them in a cupboard in a shed outside, remember, its -15 degrees outside pretty much all the time, it was +5 in the cupboard.

i water them and love them for a bout a week, then realised that it was too cold for them to grow, so i gave up, leaved everything and turned the lights of. now a month later, me and my friend decided too look if something have happened. and what do yoyu know, they have grown there, in the cold, dark cupbord without water or heat, to about 5 CM, and they look reaaaaaaly healthy, me and my friend took this as a sign, so we turnd everything on, watered them, telled them how munch we loved them, and decided this was a good day.

How long will 10000 lumens work for six seedlings? Just looking to get 6 plants started, I have a hydro unit, seeds, and 10000 CFL lumens. Gonna buy rock-wool tomorrow and start it up, how long until I'd need a larger investment?

>> No.40524 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

Lumens aren't what is really important. It's more-so the spectrum. You're going to to want 6500K Daylight/Full Spectrum.

>> No.40557 Ban Global Ban Ignore Report

Ideally you want a ballpark range of 100w per plant (actual wattage, not equivalent ). You'll need 5500k-6500k lights during vegetative growth (about 26w per plant will suffice, but more = better) and 2200k-2600k lights during flowering.

In CFL terms 5500-6500k lights are "daylight" bulbs and 2600k lights are "soft white" bulbs. If you could only afford to get one type of lamp, grab "soft white" because cannabis plants absorb more of that spectrum during flowering (where is matters ;D) If you could though, it's best to mix the color spectrum.
