i went to sprout my seeds. put them on damp paper towels between two plates. after about four days i had some sprouts, but also a bunch of mold. what's the best way to sprout seeds, making sure not to contaminate them?
OP here. kept them in a ziploc, moist paper towels with a splash of peroxide, sitting between two hard drives. 48 hours later and i've got some cracked.
plant them in soil. what are you trying to accomplish by germinating them between paper towels anyway?
>>28867It's much better to germinate them first. That way you know 100% sure that the seed has germinated.
damn those seed shells looks ... so clean and flawless... almost plastic! Anywho, I use airstones and the second from smallest air pump. about 11 bucks total at walmart. or 6 dollars if you get the single valve 5-15 gal air pump. plus 1 dollar for the two blue airstones, they are about the diameter of a finger and 1 inch tall. This can be found in aquarium/fish section. Basically, connect tubing to pump and whatever else (eg backflow stopper) and on the end is the air stone... put the air stone in a little jar or styrofome cup filled with 2-3" inches of water, with about 5-8 drops of hydrogen peroxide. Hello there /crops/, how are you doing this fine day?It looks to me like the time of harvest is nearing after the long over two month wait, the leafs are becoming yellow and the pistils are getting brown.I made some pics and I would like to ask for your experteese to determine how long till I should cut down my beloved plants. It is a Diesel Ryder strain in it's 69th day.

>>28914Dude, man, "limited scientific research" means one or two studies. That's probably two different studies, which haven't even been repeated much less their results replicated. Limited scientific research is what tabloids publish when they tell you that X causes cancer, and two weeks later they use another single conference proceeding abstract or some shitole like that to report that X cures cancer.

A PC grow does not consume more electricity than a normal PC, it does not get hotter than a normal PC, so why would the pigs be able to detect it?Let's have a look at how FLIR works.Despite the Acronym, it is not a RADAR. It simply is a very sensitive Infrared camera with very high resolution. Also, it does not go "beep beep beep grow detected" when it sees something suspicious. There is an operator inside the chopper who looks at a screen with the FLIRs video output. Probably everything gets recorded so additional pigs can have a look at it, but what matters is that it is a "human" who looks at IR footage. And he's looking for three things: Comment too long. >>28909About the warrant thing - it depends where you live. State, and country, laws vary wildly. And don't forget, getting a warrant for a large-ish operation just isn't that tough for a well equipped police district. It takes time, yes, but an unscrupulous grower can easily make enough circumstantial evidence to warrant a warrant (heh) if they're not careful. As for your IR question... HPS lamps push out a lot of IR radiation directly. These cameras are so sensitive though, that they can see general clouds and areas of higher temperature as well. If you're venting 4000w of air from your hooded HPS lights, right beside your AC condenser (outside) - and your AC is the only one in the neighborhood with such a heat signature - that's a bad thing. Anyone have experience using Asprin to make feminized seeds? I just broke up 4 0.1g pills and I'm gonna give my plant a good misting each day. I had to flush it yesterday, so it'll be a bit before I can actually water it with the the stuff. The plant is a Diesel Ryder that's about a week into flowering. I'll post updates if it seems to be going well, and I'll post pictures if there are any results.

It is a bit more complex than that. There are 2 ways bagseeds are created:From outdoor plants that got pollinated by males in the vicinity. These seeds are just normal seeds with no higher risk of hermaphrodites. However as much of this kind of weed comes over the southern border, you'll most probably have sativa dominant genetics which are difficult to grow indoors due to their strong vertical growth and long flowering time. From indoor plants. Since there will we no males nearby that could pollinate the females, they are most likely from hermaphroditic self pollination. These seeds have a high chance to grow into hermaphroditic plants. When growing bag seed look at the bud you got the seed from before you grow it. If the plant was a hermi, you can see the freaking pollen sacks in the bud! >>28848What do you mean by "gas lamp"? One of those lamps that combusted gas from before electricity was around? In HID lamps, the ballast simply serves to limit the current. HID lamps become more and more conductive the hotter they get and thus need limited current or they would get too hot and melt. The voltage HID lamps are being operated with is the same that comes out of your wall plug.As for flourescent lamps, yes the voltage for those is being stepped up by the ballast and the current is limited as well. Both lamp types use gas, although different gases and in a different manner.

>>28871HIDs are gas lamps. They run off of a metal amalgam that vaporizes and turns into an excited plasma gas as current begins to flow through the electrodes.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_dischargeAlso, HID bulbs do not run on the same voltage as your mains outlet - they require at minimum ~330v. Easily obtained information by simply reading the info on the ballast itself. Right no the label it should tell you the input voltage and amperage, and it should tell out the output voltage and amperage. Pic included is what's directly on my 400w HPS ballast. See the primary output voltage at 480V? That's not house voltage. Highest house voltage I'm aware of is 220-240 in Europe.

Hm, that's strange, here's what the ballast of my MH looks like. >=0,78A and 230V. Which is s about 150W. Maybe there are different types of HIDs? I can't check out my HPS's ballast, my plants have to stay in the dark right now.

Hey /crops/How come people don't grow in modofied vans/camper vans more often? It can be any plain old van. It can be stationary parked in your driveway, which means its almost as easy to be found as your growroom or you can move it all the time, go to completely empty spaces etc. I saw it on weeds I while back and i wondered why i hadnt heard of it more often. In some big vans you could probably keep quite alot of plants. A whinebago could even be used half front half grow room

He did mean tent. Not everyone grows in PC cases and Cardboard boxes, and if the noise from the ventilation system is not a problem, a tent made out of black and white foil is the most inexpensive way to go.

Dear /crops/ n growers. I have a Snow Ryder growing in my closet, it's an auto-flowering strain. I also have 2 large CFL's 1 for growing one for blooming but only 1 reflector. So I will have to switch from grow to bloom. My question is when? When it shows her first pistils? When all budding places have formed and show pistils?
