Is there anywhere cheaper to get plane tickets than expeida? They seem pretty expensive in their own right...
AirTran is also pretty good. My sister and I are flying to florida in a week or so, and round trip for both of us was like $350.
I'm trying to get from Milwaukee to Greensboro, NC under 200 dollars... doesn't seem like it's happening... shiiiiiiiiiit
>>6967Just checked Expedia, and found one for $267. You could fly into Charlotte on AirTran, and then it would DEFINITELY be under 200. Actually, it could possibly be under 100. There are web specials that show some flights as low as 84. Raleigh/Durham is also listed on the AirTran site.
>>6979talking round trip, btw
>>6980well, AirTran tickets are usually under 200 round trip. My mom books my brother's flights through them everytime he comes up here (which is at least once a year) and it's never been more than like $215-$230 round trip. The 84 dollar ticket would make it about 168, maybe 180 when all is said and done.

I got a hook up on a '72 Super Beetle from a buddy for $1,500, I've wanted a beetle for fucking ever, and everyone knows that's a ridiculous deal for a beetle. And no, its not fucked up, its getting an engine rebuild right now, so it should be good to go. What does /car/ think of them, are they a bitch to work on, do they break down often, should I buy it, etc?pic is not the car, but it is a '72 super beetle

I would never damage a Motorists Vehicle I know what its like to care about a ride and I personally try to not be a violent person though, I do seem to have mild anger issues I've been keeping them in check haha. Anyways a five mile bike ride for me. Its a nice ride through some rough roads and slightly hilly terrain and I ride with a backpack carrying anywhere from ten to forty pounds of assorted crap in it.

Biking is ok. I prefer it for when I don't have a destination and it's nice outside (ie killing time in the summer). For getting places though, I like my car.there's no shortage of pricks on bikes, and no shortage of them in cars. That's how it is

Get an old Beemer. They're reliable and fun, and if you can drive stick they're pretty efficient. I drove a mid-90's 328i for a while, and I got an average commute of about 30MPG out of it without really trying. The downside might be electronics, and check and see what grade of fuel it should run on (some european cars are supposed to run on higher octane fuel to prevent engine knock.)Or you could get a really old beemer, like a 325e. Still reliable, but check to see if the engine's been rebuilt recently, check to make sure that when the wheel is level that the car's going straight, etc. since they're made of steel, you can ding it all out and hide body damage pretty well if it's been in an accident, especially if it's been in one with a modern plastic car, the damage won't be pronounced but it will have affected the car's performance. They're quick and fun, but you might have seat issues, speaker issues. That said, insurance will be cheaper.

>>6686Civics aren't that great or fun to drive, but their gas mileage is impressive. I would suggest looking at getting a 4 cylinder beetle, though they're not that stylish some of them get impressive MPG. Oh, wait, you said fun to drive... well I've never driven one, I wouldn't know.Look into a diesel, especially a TDI (Turbo Diesel). That's a good balance between fun and economy.

Long story short, I got this car from my parents about 9 months ago after I passed my driving test, it was convenient as they were in the market for a new car at the time and they were still holding some of the money from my 21st birthday so they gave me the car and we called it off. I'm a big guy and there's no way I could drive a small hatchback so this was almost perfect for me. Now I'm planning a move abroad and the car has to go so I was wondering what I might get for it. It's exactly like the picture only grey, not silver, and right hand drive (I live in the UK).The make and model is Renault Megane Scenic, the year is 2000, that's about all I know but if any more information would help you I can get it. Oh yeah, there's also quite a bit of superficial damage, I've clipped the fuel cap, put a big hole in the rear bumper and managed to put a scrape down the side that my dad described as looking like 'something out of Wacky Races', and there are a few smaller problems for example, the car thinks a door is open even when it isn't, the driver seatbelt is in quite poor but still working condition, and the digital radio and clock display is distorted, but I'm sure all of these things could be fixed if necessary. good god, what the heck is considered a hatchback in the UK if a Renault is roomy enough for a "big guy"?It would fetch about $2000-$2500 In the US I'd imagine, but that's pretty useless information for you lol

The age-old debate: Manual vs. Automatic?Pic related. Not mine specifically, but still basically same model '95 Z28 Camaro Coupe (Red, T-Top), 6 speed, manual of course. Thing is, it's got around 230k miles on it, although it's still in quite good condition everything considered. I can drive it, but I've been thinking of selling it and buying an automatic of some sort, since manual transmissions just feel like an unnecessary nuisance. Anyone think they can give me a reason to change my mind on the subject?Basically my main problem atm is lack of experience, especially with driving it on the highway and towns I've never been to before (difficult to focus on driving, shifting, keeping track of all of the traffic around me while also trying to find the fucking road I need to turn off on to get to where I need to go). Is it worth continuing to learn these things in this car with a manual transmission, or should I just dump it now and get an automatic? Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>6777What? I took driving and bike lessons at the same time when I was 16. I haven't crashed once due to gear related problems. And how in jesus howard christ's name will you crash at high speed when you change gear at the wrong time? The only thing that will happen is they either the revs go high or engine loses power because not going fast enough for a higher gear. Obviously, if you're a mongoloid and think it's a great idea to switch into 1st when going 120kph then yes, you're going to block the rear wheel, which doesn't exactly result in a crash if you've practised a bit of drifting. Regardless, driving stick and riding a bike have nothing in common, it would be moot to "practice stick" before riding a bike. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Manual for life.I will NEVER drive Automatic unless I HAVE to. Been doing manual since I was 6. Love it. Especially on the ice.
thread's tl;drwat debate are we talking about here? As far as I knew it was common knowledge that sticks are better any day of the week.

manual's good shit, there's a couple things it can do that automagics can't but I the one you'll notice every time you drive an automatic is shifting gears exactly when you want to. Autos are always too antsy/too late for when I want to shift
This seems like an appropriate place to ask, I have my driver's test in a week and would like to know how to backpark.
Backparking always seems like such a dopey way to go about it."Oh jeeeeez I'm going to go through all this crap to park so that I can shoot out when I leave"Watch out for sneaky bullshit that nobody ever encounters (ha ha ha i guess like that backparking). The first driving test I took I failed because the DMV is next to the only "No right on red light" sign in the United States I've ever ever encountered before/since. And some slightly stressful urban roads. Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

It's easy as shit, I did it in one swoop.Just make yourself perfectly sideways about 10 feet from where you are going to park into and just turn that bitch.... and then slowly straighten out the wheel as you go in.

I don't know the parts technical name and I've been searching online for a couple weeks. Can anyone help me out with the name of this part?

This is what happens when you try to repair a bag with about $7 worth of supplies in Beijing, China, at 9:00 PM. You can't really see it but it's the 7th one back (see the green and red bungee lines?) It made it people! The sword was poking through the bottom of the fabric, and some of the safety pins were bent, but it made it alright!
