So back in highschool I use to be pretty chubby (5'9 160), but after i got out I began living a healthier lifestyle and lost some pounds. My old scale told me I was sitting at about 155 give or take a few pounds, and I was content with this. But this morning I went on a new digital scale and it told me I was actually 140. I was surprised because im not super skinny, infact I still have a belly, but I always thought I stood around 150. Now heres the weirder part, I lift weights recreationally at home on a semi-daily basis (if I have time). I curl 25, shoulder press 15, dumbell press/fly 15/20. What would you guys recommend for me to help in gaining muscle mass?

>>20929>synergistic effectgtfoyou need two things to gain mass... Food and lifting heavier and heavier weights to failure. all this other shit is BULLSHIT. Cardio is good for it's own reasons, but it has nothing to do with hypertrophy BY IT'S VERY DEFINITION!

I wouldnt recomend any of that protein shake, creatine, etc. bullshit either. You look stronger than what you will be. If that is all you are looking for then go for it. It is alot better for you to just eat normal and work your ass off in the gym. I swear Im half the size of most the fools in the gym and lift just as much as them. Oh yea, work out your whole body EVENLY. Dont be one of those faggots with a big upper body and skinny ass chicken legs
>>20930oh sorry, i dont think you understand. you're certainly correct about that, you don't need cardio to gain mass and i never said cardio had anything to do with hypertrophy.why is there so much hostility here, bro? what good are you doing by calling other peoples' advice bullshit? and who are you to determine that? i think it's clear which posters know what they're talking about and which posters do not. if i've said anything that's incorrect, by all means, point it out and educate me. i love to learn new things about fitness. if you're just going to call me a retard and tell me to gtfo, kindly take your teenage aggression elsewhere. go somewhere else and call people faggots, or better yet go to the gym and work out some of that anger.

I've started doing push-ups after seeing this website:http://hundredpushups.com/Does this seem like a good way to gain muscle? I'm really skinny and i only mannaged 20 continuous push-ups on the initial test which ranked me 3 out of 7.I'm doing 3-4 more than what they guide is advising i do in each set because i'm capable of it, and ive began writing down my progress on the logging website they have. I think everyone knows swimming is a great form of exercise for almost anybody, is this supposed to be informative or what?
I'll just leave this right here for yous guys.
>>20890I'll do 30 push ups, 50 sit ups, and jog around the block three times a week. Hows that?
really thats all your going to do, that really doesnt seem like much. i do 100 pushups and 200 sittups and 1-3 mile run all on top of going to the gym and jiu jitsu
ab and core workout equivalent of 375+ sit ups and 6mile incline run. fuck your noise.
Yeahh.. I'll stick to my strength training.
is OP's picture moving, or have i gone crazy?
here to say you can be vegetarian and still get huge.i have kidney disease so I cannot eat large amounts of proteinsim 6'1 and 205lbs.just make sure you do not mix cardio with power lifting ( seperate them )never do total body workouts.also your body doesnt really need protein during the day it needs nutrients, i save the protein in my diet a few hours before i go to bed, because your body only builds muscle when you sleep. holy shit, shut the fuck up all of you. Veggie-fags, shut up, eating meat is part of being human, we are omnivores and thats that. Meat-fags, you want meat, well do it the way our ancestors did it and hunt for it, we may be omnivores but modern humans still eat way to much meat. we need some meat to live healthily but not nearly as much as we consume. the world would be alot better off if we all had to just hunt our own meat when we wanted some. but really all the worlds problems come down to one single thing, its called money, it breeds greed and frankly, we could still function as an advance society (and probably in the long term end up even more advanced then we are now)if we got rid of money. but once again, all of you guys, shut the fuck up, this whole thread wasnt even meant to be about carnivore vs. vegitarian anyways.
all of you: wash your mouths out! my mother would be very upset with all of you right now.
>>20925I like the hunt for food part. Retarded suggestion is retarded.
>>20764i'm a vegetarian because i am in a first world country. i don't need to eat meat to survive, so why kill animals when i don't have to? however, in third world countries where they're not as well off as we are, i have no objection to them killing animals for food, because without it they'd die.we're not all crazy.

So I tore my rotator cuff in my left shoulder and have mild tendinitis in my right. I used to be big on bodybuilding but now that that's out, I would like to try a new sport and at least get a little bit of exercise. There is a fencing school about ten miles away and I'm thinking about trying it, I doubt it'll be too rough on my shoulder. Before I shell out 100 bucks for the beginner's program I'd like to know if anyone has tried it, if it's fun, if it's good exercise, etc.

It's funny, it requires skill, speed and strength, and it's excellent training for the body. Also, the stretching excercises will probably make you feel parts of your body you haven't felt before.:)

I've never worked out before or ran on a regular basis and would like to start. I'm 6'1 and weigh 160 pounds. Also I can't swing a gym membership right now, so anyone know a workout I could do at home that would help build muscle mass? Also how long should I be jogging without murdering myself in the process. At the moment I can only run about 10 minutes without getting gassed.
Thanks for the help! It's greatly appreciated. I'll definitely get on that protein.
Also, what is time carb dieting?
>>20893Why do you say don't bulk and cut? I have made awesome progress with it for a few months.
I used to be a bigger guy, and lost a lot of weight (and muscle) through starving myself. Anyone else nervous about TCD and all the fat you'll be taking in?
step lightly, on the grass if your bones are quite bad. if you feel like you're running the same way a 70yr old man would, so be it. fuck appearance.
Hello /ana/I once used to be pretty ripped but now I slacked off a year or 2 and look soft (look at the pic)What are your advices to lose fat fast and get ripped? :)Don´t really have a motivation at the moment.I don´t drink any sodas but alcohol 1-2 times a week. I don´t eat BK McD or other stuff but I don´t really cook myself so I go with Half Fast Food (Ramen, Noodles, Lasagne). Mostly I eat once or twice a dayAny advices? Cheers
If you're just looking to cut, I'd look into some HIIT, and general cardio, swimming, running, etc. Kettlebells are good workout for strength AND cardio.

What do you use to keep track of your progress?I'm currently considering taking a pic each sunday, write down my weight, what the current max I can lift is, etc. But just using pen and paper seems a bit stupid, so do you know of any programs for that or a better solution?
>>20910well, i like to keep things discreet and neat. I dont seem to be able to do that with paper. It's also easier with a computer program to link to the proper picture i think.
so basically you're scared that people will point at you and say OMG look at that retard! he's writing down his progress LOLOLyeah, i don't think so

>>20913oh, if you're keeping track with pictures too then it would probably be easiest to keep them on a computer. you could just name each picture by date and write the date on your sheets for comparison purposes. i can sorta see how that might get disorganized though. i dont know of any program that would help.i try to keep it as simple as possible, pictures of myself are useless to me. the rate at which i increase my lifting numbers is the one thing i care about and my system works great for that. a 3-ring binder full of sheets is about as simple as you can get. >>20918you only do five exercises a day? i don't mean that in a condescending way, everyone does their thing differently.
>>20920yeah, sometimes less than 5 actually. example day: warm-up jog, lateral pulldown (or pullups), db rows, hammer curls (only sometimes, other stuff usually works my biceps enough), maybe some kind of abdominal thing.i have another upper body day centered around pecs, shoulders, triceps (i rotate abs between this day and the above day). then two core/lower body days involving deadlift and squats. sometimes i'll do squat or deadlift on one of my upper body days and take an extra day off. i try to keep my workout structured yet flexible so i can maintain a steady schedule but also have the ability to mix it up a bit if i feel like it. but yeah, 5 or less usually does it for me.

>>20816respect to you for posting that, but wtf is it with americans referring to a cup as a measurement. that's no indication dude, it only works with ratio. what if i have a fucking huge cup that can hold like 12 strawberries, and yours only holds 6? i'd have twice as many strawberries in my smoothie, that's what would happen. who's gonna pay for all that? not me.fuck you and your cups.

I'm planning on becoming a pro wrestler in like a year or so, but I don't want to be held back because I'm not conditioned to the training. So I've started doing exercises now as a means to condition myself. I run for 30 minutes each day, I do squats, various calisthenics, etc. Could you all tell me what exercises to do so I can come in there ready?inb4 its fake, people shitting on me, etc

grab the largest, heaviest object you can stand and do fartleks with it up and down a mountain while lifting the object up and down over your head. theoretically-speaking.
