Lately I've been going for some short runs, and wanted to know the basic tips for getting fit/exercising..
Such as:
-Eating before or after exercising?

  • Warm up tips
  • Types of stretches that can help when doing a cardio workout
  • Is sex a good type of exercise?

What exercises do you do? If you run in the morning, have something light before it. I usually go for a banana and a glass of milk and have my real breakfast after the run. When lifting, from my personal experience, it's better to have had some food 1-2 hours before.

Warm-ups should be sport specific. If you run, just start off slowly until your body gets going. Otherwise, a good rule of thumb is that you need to warm up the muscles that your exercise puts strain on.
Stretches REALLY depend on what you do.

I wouldn't consider Sex an exercise, you dont burn THAT many calories. You should have it anyway though.

you shouldn't eat a ton before you exercize. Eat a decent meal to give your body some fuel, wait at least 45 minutes or so, and start stretching. if i'm running, i definitely do stuff like the calf stretch, the shin stretch, butterfly stretch, and a couple others I don't know the names of (lay down, fully extend one leg into the air as straight as you can, hold a stretch with your hands)

that kinda stuff. stretching shouldn't take too long, and by no means do you have to do every lower-body stretch out there, but goddamn if i understand why some people are anti-stretch. stretching ALWAYS makes me feel looser and more "ready" to do what i need to do. if you would like more specifics i can detail them, or you can just google some stretches and do the ones that you like

Stretching before running is ok. Dont do it before weightlifting though, as stretching decreases your muscle's basic tension (don'T know the english word, in german we say "tonus") thus increasing the risk of tearing a muscle.

So around 3 months ago (started out 5'8" at 145 lbs.) I had gone down to 130 lbs., felt great, and didn't have the urge to eat. I could control my portions really well, and wanted to exercise. I don't know where the hell that feeling came from.After my typical-eat-loys-otherwise-you'll-be-unhealthy-aunt and such forced me to eat on a trip to NY (she was making such a big deal and her friends were throwing hissy fits oh god..) I gained 10 lbs back. Came back, lost 5 lbs. Now 2 months later, I've gained up to 140-ish lbs. back, I feel terrible. I'm not big, but I was a very nice weight when I lost the pounds. What can I do to motivate myself again? I have a pair of small jeans I fit into perfectly before, but now I get a muffin top. I'm mad at myself.

Hey fitbros, I've got a question.

I figure learning the splits is a pretty cool party piece, but i'm just such a busy guy and don't have time to stretch, so I was thinking I'll down about half a litre of vodka, stand in horse stance for a little while, tie some rope around my feet and have a couple of burly eastern europeans pull my legs to a 180 degree angle.

So what I'm wondering is, could I do any long term damage to myself with this shit?

here to say you can be vegetarian and still get huge.
i have kidney disease so I cannot eat large amounts of proteins

im 6'1 and 205lbs.
just make sure you do not mix cardio with power lifting ( seperate them )
never do total body workouts.

also your body doesnt really need protein during the day it needs nutrients, i save the protein in my diet a few hours before i go to bed, because your body only builds muscle when you sleep.

So I do drugs:
I occasionally smoke meth and heroin, rail coke and E, and trip on LSD and DMT. Also the occasional drinking (anywhere from 0-3 times a week, though drug use is more common), not to mention I smoke cigarettes and weed everyday. I am by no means trying to be healthy and I'm not over weight, or underweight. I just want to be able to lift more and in higher weights. This is strictly for jujitsu training. Any suggestions?

alcohol is probably the most harmful thing you;re doing. cigarettes and pot smoking will obviously reduce your endurance.

you just gotta lift heavy and keep increasing your weight each week slightly. meth, coke, heroin, ecstasy, lsd, dmt(tripping is alright), do not have very much of a negative effect as long as you don't do them all every week. on occasion will not hurt.

concentrate on eating healthy, 8hrs of sleep, proper technique and you can continue to increase strength. stims like meth and coke are bad. stay sober while lifting to avoid injury, pain = take it easy. get a lifting buddy. you can do it. stay hydrated, lots of protein, eat a lot. there ya go.

always work your core when it comes to martial arts, especially something like jujitsu. alot of people do crunches and so do i, but try this too: lay flat on your back, keep your legs straight, raise your head up a bit, and start kicking your legs. keep them straight, just go up and down at a steady pace, the faster the better. do it for however long you can. this works your abs, and (especially when you're just starting) you will fucking feel it. it's a great exercise

I don't want to post on here the typical, ah I'm fat and decided to change after slamming down 5 candy bars post. But I've been trying to go to the gym for some time now, and I havent seen results, I havent gone to the gym in about a week and a half, due to illness, work, and to some degree lack of motivation. However I have not given up, but rather been trying to obtain some true, helpful information on A. where should I be starting, B. How much, how often C. why I'm not seeing results, D. effective muscle building.

So I've been sorting through posts on here, information from the internet and what not but most sites are either targeted at people who are already well informed or people who are so ill informed they will buy the crappy work out program gimmick. Can anyone point me in the right direction, link a site that helped you, a book even, anything that can make sorting through the sea of endless garbage targeted at people insecurities. I would much appreciate it.

It really depends what your goals are.

There are loads of great websites and forums around with a shit ton of advice.

I'd guess your starting point would be to learn to eat correctly if you are not doing so. Go learn your BMR then take away 500 cals from that. That's your starting point, go find out the rest if you want it.

I'm a huge faggot, so this is how I lost the weight (I'm pretty in shape now. I <3 my abs...)

If you're looking to lose weight, the answer is a lot different then gaining muscle. Basically, here's what I did..

I started with easy exercise, something I could watch TV to, etc. Basically memorized a good set of pilates (lawl soccermom exercise) for my tummy and did them EVERY day. Yeah, it seems like a bitch at first but it takes about 25 minutes, which is about the length of a show.

How do you guys motivate yourselves to workout? I do my lifting when im at home just loafting around or just watching tv, but latley I havent really had the passion to workout. It's not a physical thing because when I build some "momtentum" I work like a dog.

But sometimes when I do a few curls or something, I think to myself "whats the point?" and I stop. What can I do to stay focused... anything I could eat/drink to energize myself?
